We seem to have enough to play ... so let's do it.

The important facts:

- You MUST bring a driver's license -- the refs have been instructed to check it against our roster

- Game 1: Saturday, 2 pm, at Washington-Lee HS.

- Game 2: Sunday, 6 pm, at George Mason HS (only if we win Saturday, of course)

- Both fields are turf, not grass

- Weather Line: (703) 229-1705

- If we play Sunday, I most likely will **not** know the result of the Italy-Spain game and will want to watch it on my DVR afterward. Please don't spoil it for me!!

- Again, you MUST bring a driver's license -- the refs have been instructed to check it against our roster.

As most or all of you know by now, we did not make the playoffs, thanks to a forfeit on Sunday. Booooo!

Anyway, thanks for the great season, and see you in the fall ...

Good news -- we are in the playoffs.

We tied, 0-0, today (great effort by all, btw -- with a break or two, I bet we win that game). Armory won to clinch a playoff spot, but DC Divided lost 6-5 to Buena Vista Social Club, allowing us to move past them and into the postseason.

We play Hoover FC -- the team we lost to on the Mall, 4-0, a few weeks ago -- on Saturday. Field and time TBD.

If we win that, we'd play Sunday at a field and time TBD vs. top seed TAz Devils -- another team that beat us, 4-0.

We play this Sunday (June 1) at Kenmore at 4 pm. Please try to be at the field by 3:40 pm. I will bring the corner flags, but whoever has the net (Mark?) needs to bring that, as well.

Also, the league is running a summer league, as it did last year. I cannot captain a team in the summer, but may be able to play a few games. Last year, we partnered with Armory to field a team, and they may be interested again. If you are interested in running the summer league team, speak up and get the ball rolling ...

Schedule Updates

The league has rescheduled most or all of the many rained-out games (we're lucky to have missed just one), and here's how it affects us:

- No game this weekend (as expected)
- Regularly scheduled game on June 1 -- 4 pm at Kenmore
- No game June 8 (although a lot of other teams have makeups that day)
- Makeup game June 15 vs. D.C. Thunder -- 8 am at Trinity
- Playoffs start Saturday, June 21 -- if we make the playoffs, we likely will play on this day.
- Semifinals Sunday, June 22
- Final Sunday, June 29

May 11 -- No Game

Just a reminder that we do not have a game this coming Sunday, May 11. Enjoy Mother's Day, and think of all the moms who liven up our sidelines by bringing young'uns to our games!

Also worth noting: I talked to the league, and we will be making up the rain-shortened April 20 game. No word on when/where yet. With all the rain this season, it seems almost certain that June 14-15 will be a makeup weekend and playoffs *might* start June 21-22. Or they may have to use that weekend for makeups, too, and shorten the playoffs to one weekend (June 28-29). The league will not extend the season beyond the 29th, I am told.

Great Effort, Unlucky Result

Sunday's game was a really fine effort by everyone there, and more important, a ton of fun. If you weren't there, you missed a well-played 2-1 loss that could have been a tie or a Far Post win and been a fair result. You also missed Robert Mansker's fine sideline attire -- nice jacket, Rob, did you get that from Mourinho?

Good morning. Goleros and Rolling Thunder (another league) are organizing a scrimmage at the turf field in Pentagon City on Saturday. Kick around starts at 8:00 a.m., scrimmage sometime thereafter. We have the field until 10:00 a.m. I know it's early, but that's when we could find field time.
